Malone- James K. "Jim" Goodrow, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 14, 2012 at the Franklin County Nursing Home with the love and support of his family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Jim was born on April 11, 1934 in St. Regis Falls to the late Oscar and Barbara (Haynes) Goodrow. He was raised in St. Regis Falls; attended local schools and worked on area farms. Jim worked for NYS DOT for 10 years. He then worked for North Star Industries in Saranac Lake, the position from which he retired.
Jim loved his family and cherished all the times spent together. He also loved St. Regis Falls; being a people person, you could often find Jim visiting at the former Igloo Restaurant or lending a hand at the Adult Center, he was always willing to help. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, yet had a passion for flowers and most certainly was gifted with a green thumb. He also took pleasure in dancing, especially a good jitter-bug or step-dance.
He is survived by one brother and sister in law: Howard and Fae Goodrow Sr. of St. Regis Falls, three sisters: Eleanor Mallett of FL, Helen Chambers of North Lawrence, and Agatha Parker of St. Regis Falls, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Goodrow and four brother-in-laws: Gerald Mallett, William Chambers, Ronald FeFee Sr., and Mack Parker.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home. Jim's Funeral and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10am at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls with the Rev. Alfred Fish officiating. Burial will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery.
