Albuquerque, NM - Francis A. Mariano, 71, passed away September 11, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospice in Albuquerque, NM. Francis was born on September 27, 1940 in Utica, son of the late Joseph A. and Elena A. (Perretta) Mariano. He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1958. In 1960, he entered the U. S. Army, serving in Korea for two years, and was discharged in 1963. Francis worked at Reynolds Metals in Massena for 35 years, retiring as a Supervisor in 1998. For relaxation, Francis enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He is survived by his companion, Mary VanKennen of Albuquerque, NM; two sons, Scott and Debbie Mariano of Massena and Thomas Mariano of Detroit; two daughters, Kristy and Dale Thompson of Winthrop and Stacey VanKennen and Leon Shorette of Brasher Falls; one sister, Delores Post of Norwood; a sister in law, Christine Mariano of Norwood; his grandsons, Tory, Tyler, Ethan, Dan and Nick Mariano, Trever Roach and Stephen Shorette; his granddaughters, Alexandria Roach and her fiancé, Justin Martin and Regan Roach, Sophie Shorette, Jenna and Jaden Thompson; a great granddaughter, Madison Martin; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, James and Joseph. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood on September 22nd at 1pm with Monsignor Murphy celebrating.
