Funeral services for Donald Earl Farmer, 73, of Nicholville will be Friday at 11:00 am at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls, with Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls, Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville. Mr. Farmer passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Canton Potsdam Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Janet; three children, Donna Sweet of Dickinson Center, Kelly Provost and her husband, Kevin of St. Regis Falls, and James Farmer and his wife, Mary of Malone; one sister, Joanne Richards of Pulaski; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. One grandson, Jesse "Gump" Sweet and one sister, Judy Farmer predeceased him. Donald was born on July 19, 1936 in Watertown, son of the late Albert and Earldene Blade Farmer. He married Janet Wilson on October 26, 1959 in Moira. He entered the U. S. Marine Corps on June 10, 1954, serving two tours in Vietnam and 4 tours in Okinawa, Japan, and retired in 1974. He then drove truck for Phippen and Sons Trucking, St. Lawrence Seaway, North Star Trucking and Estees in Jax, NC. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 in Albany.
