St. Regis Falls - Marjorie M. DuBuque, 101, passed away peacefully Monday, December 31, 2012 at Franklin County Nursing Home in Malone. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Marjorie was born on February 8, 1911 in St. Regis Falls, daughter of the late Herman and Elsie (Weller) LaBounty. She graduated from St. Regis Falls Central School and went to work at the St. Regis Falls Post Office for six years. She went to work at ALCOA in Massena in the payroll department, retiring after 31 years. She married John Woods on April 3, 1942 in Massena. They had a son, John Jr., who died in infancy. Mr. Woods died in 1955. She married Herbert Stevens in Lake Placid in April 1964, he died in 1973. In 1980, she married Loren DuBuque, he died in 1990.
Marjorie was a good neighbor and a devout Christian, shown by her dedication to the Trinity United Methodist Church in St. Regis Falls, where she served for over 22 years as Financial Secretary. She was a Lifetime member of the United Methodist Women; a past member of the Order of Eastern Star Rebecca Lodge #264 and a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Club. Marjorie enjoyed boating and fishing with her friends and family.
She is survived by one sister, Fae Goodrow of St. Regis Falls and many nieces and nephews. One sister, Helen Woods Puryer, one brother, Charles LaBounty, a niece and nephew, predeceased her.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Marjorie's Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, with burial at Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville.
