Brasher Falls- Ms. Karen M. Ashley, 52, passed away April 12, 2013 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital, after her courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love, comfort and support of her family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Karen was born in Potsdam on January 29, 1961 to Clark Marriott and Joanne (Brooks) Robinson. She was raised and educated locally, attending St. Lawrence Central High School.
She was employed by the St. Lawrence County Manufacturing Company where she worked for many years as a laborer.
Karen was selflessly devoted to her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was always present to them, whether providing at home or supporting them at their sporting events; she never missed a game. Those who knew and loved Karen would say she epitomizes the word ‘Mother’, a true matriarch of her family. She will be greatly missed.
She enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Her grandchildren were truly the joys of her life, and she cherished all time spent with them.
Karen is survived by, her children: Becky and Jed Porter of Oswego, Sherry Ashley of Brasher Falls, James and Sarah Ashley of Lawrenceville, and Jennifer Ashley and her fiancé Teri Tuper of Moira, her mother, Joanne Robinson of Rochester, 12 grandchildren: Julia, Jayden, Audrey, Damien, Amanda, Madelyne, Emma, Ian, Brayden, Alex, Toby, and Zoey, one sister, Amy Robinson of Rochester, five brothers: Donald and Cathy Marriott of Rochester, Chad Marriott of Buckton, Robert Marriott of Rochester, Joseph Marriott of Massena, David and Kara Robinson of Rochester, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by, her father, Clark Marriott, sister, Sandy Marriott, and nephew, Nathan Marriott.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-6. Karen’s Funeral service and Celebration of Life will be Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bayside Cemetery.
