Quincy, MA - Thomas J. O'Connor, 52, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at his home. Tom was born in Potsdam on December 3, 1960, son of Robert and Rita (Huston) O'Connor. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School in 1979 where he excelled in the classroom as well as the athletic field. He developed a lifelong love for music while playing in the marching band and musical productions at school. As a multi-year varsity athlete in football, hockey, baseball and lacrosse, Tom earned many sectional and regional accolades culminating with his induction into the SLC Athletic Hall of Fame.
After relocating to Massachusetts, Tom married Kristin Harvey on June 29, 1991 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Attleboro. He worked for nearly 20 years for Airborne Express/DHL, holding membership in Teamsters Local 25.
He is survived by his wife, Kristin; his mother, Rita; a brother and sister in law, Timothy and Darlene O'Connor of Canton; a sister and brother in law, Erin and John Southwick of Massena; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Robert.
Tom was easy to know and hard to forget; being happiest when spending time with family and friends and sitting around a campfire, sharing his musical talent, playing the guitar.
To honor Tom and share memories, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering at the American Legion Post #514 in Winthrop on Sunday, June 30th from 3 to 5 pm.
