North Lawrence- Mr. James A. “Jim” Miller, 55, passed away peacefully Friday June 28 in the comfort of is home surrounded by the love and care of his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Jim was born in River-Head, Long Island, on July 20, 1957 to Harry A. and Ida (Gerena) Miller. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Parishville Hopkinton High School in 1975. On July 11, 1987 he was married to Peggy Nichols in Hopkinton by his uncle Justice Ira Miller. Peggy was his sweetheart, whose loved he cherished and made his lifelong commitment to. They were inseparable for their 26 years of marriage.
He worked for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department as a Heavy equipment mechanic for 27 years; retiring on January 3, 2003.
Jim had an industrious work ethic; always keeping himself busy with antique John Deere tractors and antique trucks, taking great pride in his work. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and would relax at home with his Star Trek collection. He will be remembered as an easy-going, friendly and loving man by his wife, family, friends, especially his nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Antique Truck Club of America – Northern Empire Chapter.
Jim is survived by his wife, Peggy, his sister, Deborah Schoettling of Potsdam, 3 brothers: Harry A. and Terry Miller Jr. of Winchester, VA., Mickey Miller, and Henry and Becky Miller of Hopkinton, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom he cherished.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 at the funeral home.
