Alvena Fye

Private Funeral Services for Alvena Fye, 96, of St. Regis Falls, will be at the convenience of her family; arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls. Mrs. Fye passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Alice Hyde Nursing Home in Malone. She is survived by one son, Stewart Fye and his wife, Bonnie of Massena; one daughter, Lorraine Farmer and her husband, Walter of St. Regis Falls; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Harry; a daughter, Constance McMahon, two brothers, Telesphor Gokey and Francis Gokey; three sisters, Belle Fye, Mary Ann Eseltine and Jeanne Knapp predeceased her. Mrs. Fye was born on February 14, 1914 in Dickinson Center, daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Deon Gokey. She attended school in Dickinson Center and graduated from St. Regis Falls High School. In February 1936, she married Harry Fye at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls with Fr. Tatro celebrating. Mr. Fye passed away on September 7, 1979. For 10 years, she worked as a Aide at the Wassaic State School in Wassaic, NY. Memorials in her name can be made to the St. Regis Falls Adult Center, 25 North River Road, St. Regis Falls, NY 12980. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and the St. Regis Falls Adult Center.
