St. Regis Falls – Donald J. Kimball, Jr., 54, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday April 2, 2014 at Fletcher Allen Medical Center in Burlington. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Donald was born on March 1, 1960 in Saranac Lake son of Donald “Jack” and Beverly (Patnode) Kimball Sr. He graduated from Kewaunee High School in Kewaunee, WI.
A marriage to Gail Parkos ended in divorce. On July 4, 1997, he married Helen McLeod in St. Regis Falls.
He worked as a welder and pipe fitter for many years. Donald loved music and the outdoors; 4-wheeling, hunting and fishing, and taking his dog, Toby for rides. He bred and rescued American Bulldogs, giving or finding them a good home.
Donald played Old Timers Softball for the Guzzlers and in his earlier years coached Little League Baseball in Missouri, with his team winning the championship; he also coached Little League in St. Regis Falls. Living in Wisconsin and Missouri, his favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers and the St. Louis Blues, his enthusiasm for the teams never ended.
He was a member of the Red Tavern Club and the St. Regis Falls Sportsman’s Club. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, always interested in their activities.
Donald is survived by his wife, Helen; his mother, Beverly Kimball of St. Regis Falls; his children, Toni and Darrin LaBar of St. Regis Falls, Shamus Kimball, Bradley Kimball, Aaron Kimball and his companion, Janelle Haen, Joshua Kimball, all of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Caleb Green, Conner and Jenna LaBar, Tristen, Nevaeh, Rylie and Braxton Kimball, and Kylin Kimball; one brother, Kevin Kimball of Green Bay, WI; his sister, Deanna and Roger Geiger of Zephyrhills, FL; mother in law, Nora McLeod of St. Louis, MO; brothers in law, Charlie and Megan McLeod of St. Charles, MO, Joel and Nicole McLeod of Bowling Green, MO; sister in law, Rosalie and Joe Grote, Louisiana, MO; his riding buddy, Toby; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Sr., and his father in law, Charles McLeod.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 3 at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at 3pm followed by a luncheon at the Sportsman’s Club.
