North Lawrence- Mr. Victor "Vic" D. Richards, 51, passed away unexpectedly, Friday August 1, 2014 in the Town of Lawrence. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Vic was born in Malone on December 17, 1962 to Douglas V. and Mabel H. (Jenkins) Richards. He was raised and educated locally graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School. He proudly served his country in the United States ARMY. Vic started work on his family farm; he then worked construction for Northland Associates based out of Rochester. Lastly he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Tom & Susan Lawson in Tupper Lake; most recently assisting with the construction of the Adirondack Club and Resort. He was a member of the Alexander McDonald Sportsman Club in St. Regis Falls. If there was anyone who ever needed an extra hand or help, Vic was always there to lend that helping hand. He truly took pleasure in helping people and touched a lot of lives doing so. He fully enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He had good sense of humor and liked to get people going, but always with a smile. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his parents: Douglas and Mabel Richards of North Lawrence, a daughter, Amy Frantz of PA., 4 sisters: Kathy and Wayne Hubbard of Bangor, Karen and Steven Salls of North Lawrence, Pam Johnson and Terry Joanette of Colchester, VT., and Lisa and Tim Wheeler of St. Regis Falls, 2 brothers: Steve and Dana Richards of Brennam, TX., and Bruce Richards and Tina Daro of Tupper Lake, several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and many nieces and nephews, whom he shared a special relationship with. Vic was predeceased by his grandparents: Joyce Fleury and Lester Jenkins, and Vernon and Marjorie Richards, Aunt Beverly Gillette, and Uncle Jack Richards. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 at the funeral home. Graveside services with Military Honors will be Wednesday morning at 11am at Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson. Flowers are gratefully declined, for those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in Vic's honor to the Nicholville Fire Department.
