Stephen K. Ploof

January 1, 1950 — March 13, 2015

Dickinson Center – Stephen Kenneth Ploof, 64, passed away March 13, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Stephen was born on September 25, 1950 in Malone, daughter of Kenneth L and June E. (Rogers) Ploof. He graduated from St. Regis Falls High School and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He went to work at Reynolds Metals in Massena, also operating his own construction company and Adirondack Sanitation. He retired from Reynolds in 2000. Stephen was industrious, with his career experiences being wide-ranged over the years. He put his heart into everything he did. He enjoyed conversations with friends and family; with a stranger just being a friend he hadn’t met. Stephen held the blessing of his daughter, whom he loved so very much, close to his heart. Stephen was a member of the St. Regis Falls Sportsman’s Club and the Red Tavern Club. He is survived by his daughter, Amy LaPage of Keeseville; his mother, June Ploof of Malone; two brothers, Roger and Maria of Albany and Bruce and Donna of Dickinson Center; one sister, Kamie and Lee Hazen of Nicholville; several nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his father, Kenneth L. Ploof on March 30, 1998. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson. Memories and condolences can be shared with his family at www.hammillfh.com.
