Winthrop - Alan J. Cook, 63, of passed away at his home, Sunday, June 6, 2010, surrounded by his loving family under the care of Hospice. Alan was born on February 21, 1947 in Massena, son of the late William Mason and Mildred Cayea Cook. He atteneded St. Lawence Central School. He married Linda Clark in 1967, which ended. He married Elaine Daniels on June 15, 1991 in West Stockholm. Alan was a truck driver, in Houston, TX he worked for a cement company and when he moved back to the North Country, he dreove for WSM, Inc. in Potsdam.
Alan was a devoted husband and father, whose life was made rich by the love he shared with his family. He was a accomplished musician, playing guitar, keyboards and loved to sing. Through the years, he played for several bands, Tex Montana and the Midnight Express, Tom Gary and the Orange Blossum Special and with Gary Murray and the Drifters.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; three sons and one daughter, Robert and Julie Cook of Churchville, Michele Cook and Christopher of Washington, PA, Michael Todd Cook of Malone and Scott and Alisha Cook of Oakfield; his grandchildren, Joshua Sager, Ryan Sager, Nicholas Gerard, Dillan Cook, Mason Cook, Shelby Cook and Samantha Cook; his brothers and sisters, Luella Griffin of North Lawrence, Dorothy Cook of Ithaca, Beverly Wilson of Winthrop, Shirley Simpson of North Lawrence, Ronald Cook of Houston, TX, Leonard Cook of Holley, Marlene Murphy of Oswego, and Jacqueline Diles of Winthrop. One brother, Kenneth Cook predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Alan will be Wednesday at 11 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Patrick Ratigan celebrating. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home inWinthrop, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
