Dickinson Center- Mr. Theron A. “Butch” White, 72, passed away Monday July 27, 2015 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the love and support of his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Theron was born in Brasher Falls on April 26, 1943 to the late Stephen and Margaret (Eurto) White. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Regis Falls High School and fulfilling an apprenticeship at St. Lawrence BOCES. In July of 1962, Theron enlisted in the US ARMY, serving his country with dignity and pride earning an honorable discharge on June 30, 1968. On June 28, 1969, Theron married Brenda L. Wait at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls with Fr. Beyette. They shared a special and blessed union of 45 years; complete with faith, love, laughter and adventure. One of their greatest joy’s in life was raising their children and grandchildren; but more importantly finding excitement and exuberance in doing so. Brenda passed away on July 4, 2014. For 34 dedicated years, Theron worked at Reynolds Metals as an electrician, retiring in 2001. When you hear the word – devoted – you think of Theron. He always made himself available to his family, friends, and community alike. A member of the NYS Magistrate, Theron was the Town Justice for the Town of Dickinson for 20 years, serving 4 years on the town board. For 6 years he coached baseball: Pee Wee, Little League, and Babe Ruth League, was a NYS Hunters Training Instructor for 8 years and a Franklin Co. Snowmobiler Instructor for 11 years. Theron along with his wife Brenda, were both very influential in founding the Ruffriders ATV club, and active members for 18 years. He was a member of the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Dept for 20 years, serving as chief in 1971, a member of the Moira American Legion for 37 years and a 40 year member of the SRF Sportsman’s Club. For 44 years Theron was a member of the Township 19 Hunting Club in Tupper Lake. More than a club or a camp, this served as the building block and foundation to the life-long legacy and memories Theron created with his son, Aaron and grandsons, Zach, Alex, and Lucas. One of his favorite pastimes was golfing with his grandsons at Highland Greens. As a coach and as a grandfather, Theron instilled life lessons, and skills to anyone he knew. He is survived by his children: Tisha L. White, and Aaron L. and Terri White, 3 grandsons, Zachary, Alexander, and Lucas White, all of Dickinson Center, his mother-in-law, Jennie Wait of Malone, siblings: Duane and Jacqueline White of Brushton, Stewart White and Sandra Clookey of Brushton, Brenda and Gary Bombard of Ellenburg, Marlene and Carl Smith of Dickinson Center, Clark White of Brushton, and Odena Jenkins of Dickinson Center, sister-in-law, Carolyn White of Dickinson Center, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Veronica and Michael Sweet of Dickinson Center, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents and his wife, Theron was also predeceased by his sister Dixie White. Visitation will be Friday from 3-6 at the funeral home. Theron’s Memorial Service will be celebrated, Saturday at 11:00am at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls with Fr. Timothy Canaan. Burial will take place at the convenience of his family. Following Theron’s services, family and friends are invited to join at the Red Tavern Club in St. Regis Falls for a luncheon.
