Alfred J. Kinney

Massena - Alfred J. Kinney, 93, passed away, Monday, June 21, 2010 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Private burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Norfolk. Mr. Kinney is survived by his daughter and son in law, Linda and Arthur Saucier of Hurley, one son and daughter in law, Donald and Jaclyn Kinney of Satsuma, FL, 2 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Alfred was born on September 21, 1916 in Dexter, son of the late Guy and Minnie Mitchell Kinney. He attended school in Syracuse and graduated from Moira High School in 1934. He married Pauline Ploof of Massena at the Brasher Falls U. M. C. on January 9, 1940. Mrs. Kinney passed away on Oct. 4, 2003. Through the years, Mr. Kinney worked at ALCOA, Carrier in Syracuse, Air Brake in Watertown and operated his own machine shop, "Kinney's Machine Shop" for over 30 years while working at General Motors. With his wife, they operated Kinney's Pavilion and Dance Hall in Moira for many years.
