Dickinson Center- Mr. Mark C. Martin, 71, passed away Saturday December 5, 2015 at the UVM Medical Center in Vermont with his family by his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Mark was born at his home in Dickinson Center on September 11, 1944, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Angus Martin. He was raised and educated locally, attending St. Regis Falls High School. On September 9, 1972 Mark married Charlotte “Chickie” Maxfield at the Nicholville United Methodist Church.
For the majority of his life Mark worked as a mechanic, he also spent time as an asphalt contractor blacktopping drive ways and parking lots and in earlier years with his wife Chickie, together they logged and sold fire wood.
Blessed with a quite nature, Mark was content in the comfort and peace of his home. In the evening time he took pleasure in crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Chickie, 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Kim Martin of St. Regis Falls, and Michael Martin of Dickinson Center, 5 grandchildren: Tyler Martin, Travis Martin and his companion Denise Wilcox, Carissa Martin, Gabrielle Martin, and Anthony Martin, a great-granddaughter, Aubrey, his brother Earl Martin of Potsdam, 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Edna and Malcolm Fye of Dickinson, and Odena Genaway of Dwayne, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mark was predeceased by his siblings: Angus Jr., Gordon, Lyle, Howard, Gerald, Rhoda, and Betty, and one grandson, Kyle.
Visitation will be held Monday December 21st, from 12 to 1pm at the funeral home. A Remembrance Gathering will follow at 1pm with Certified Celebrant Julia O'Brien.
