St. Regis Falls- Mr. Media “Bo” J. Provost III, 70, passed away Thursday June 23, 2016 at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburg, surrounded by the love and support of his family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Bo was born in Santa Clara on May 18, 1946 to the late Media J. and Dorothy (LaBounty) Provost Jr. He was raised and educated locally, attending St. Regis Falls High School. On April 20, 1974 he married Deborah Mayville at St. Ann’s Church. They shared a blessed union filled with devotion, hard work, and love. Always close to their hearts is the memory of their daughter Mindy Jean Provost who passed away in 1980.
Not only did Bo provide for his family, but he also provided for the community he lived in. For 38 dedicated years he worked for the Town of Waverly as a heavy equipment operator.
His family and neighbors alike will always remember his green thumb and beautiful gardens. His vegetable gardens were always full of cucumbers and especially tomatoes; he always had more than enough to go around and made sure to share with the whole town. Bo loved camping and always looked forward to trips to his camp; that he and Debbie built from the ground up and took the time to furnish all on their own with different treasures found at yard sales and special items given to them from families around the area. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was 48 year member of the St. Regis Falls Fire Department, and at one time served as Fire Commissioner.
Bo is survived by his wife, Debbie, his son Media “Bo” and his wife Cathrine “Katie” Provost of Massena, his grandchildren who lovingly call him “Pops”, Emmett, Kenzi Jo, Asa James, and Cathrine Georgia, his brother, Irving (Wanda) Provost of Dickinson, his sisters, Trudy Provost of Ogdensburg, Jeanie Johnson of Grand George, and Joanne (Ron) Soucy of Santa Clara, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents and his daughter, Bo was also predeceased by his siblings: Caroline Pickett, June Dufrane, Kate Francis, Donald, James “Jimmy”, and Leonard Provost.
Calling hours will be Wednesday June 29, from 5-8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. At the conclusion of visitation, a prayer will be shared followed by Last Call Honors performed by the SRF Fire Department.
For those wishing to express and act of kindness, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SRF Fire Department.
