Brasher Falls – Emma A. McLaughlin, 89, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, with her family at her side. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Emma was born on February 11, 1927 in Moira, daughter of the late Eli and Caroline (McGee) St. Hilaire. On September 2, 1950, she married Rondal P. McLaughlin at St. Mary's Church in Brushton. They shared a union of almost 29 years prior to Rondal's passing on August 25, 1979. She was employed in Food Service at ALCOA in Massena for several years. Emma had a few leisure interests; playing cards, bingo, games of chance at the casino and reading.
She is survived by two children, Dennis and his wife, Yvonne McLaughlin of Brasher Falls and LeAnn Leggue and her companion, Randy Conklin of Brasher Falls, four grandchildren, Dawn McLaughlin, Shawn McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin and Katrina McLaughlin, eight great grandchildren, Kyle, Johnny, Garrett, LeAnn, Emmy, Aubrey, Jacob and Cheyanne. She was predeceased by three children, Carol Ann McLaughlin (infant), David McLaughlin and Arthur McLaughlin, her siblings, Leo, George, Alfred, Edmond, Eli, Arthur, Helen Tooley, Eugenie Empey and Marion St. Hilaire.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls, Wednesday at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Lawrence.
