Katherine (Lazore) Roatch

St. Regis Falls – Katherine A.(Lazore) Roatch, 93, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017, peacefully at her son and daughter in law’s home in Surprise, AZ under their care and the assistance of hospice.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Katherine was born in Winthrop on December 26, 1923, to the late Fred T. and Anna (Villnave) Lazore.  She graduated from Brasher-Stockholm High School.  On July 13, 1944, she married Stores Thomas Roatch at St. Peter’s Rectory in Bayshore by Rev. William R. Watson.  Mr. Roatch passed away November 3, 2003.

She went into nursing, schooling at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in West Brentwood and graduating in 1956.  Then she attended Adelphi College on Long Island and received her RN license in 1957.  Katherine worked the West Seneca Developmental Center from 1963 to 1975, for General Mills in Buffalo and the Kivel Nursing Manor in Phoenix, AZ, retiring in 1978.  She earned her real estate license while in Arizona.

Katherine was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls and St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls.

She is survived by two children, Thomas F. and Eileen Roatch of Surprise, AZ and Joan and Richard Fiegel of Blasdell, her brother in law, Keith George of Winthrop, grandchildren,  Kristin and Dennis Bacon, Susan and Brian Hart, Riki and Michael Popek, Edward and Tammy Creegan, Eileen and Bob Timmerman, Jeannine and Scott Batten and Paula and Richard Conroy, 19 great grandchildren,  three great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Katherine was predeceased by her sister, Jennie George and two brothers Frederick Lazore and John Lazore.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.  Katherine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.
