St. Regis Falls – Muriel (Merriel) D. DeBuque, 78, of St. Regis Falls, NY passed away peacefully on July 5, 2017. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home, St. Regis Falls, NY.
Born on May 28, 1939 in Dickinson Center, NY to Laurence and Marguerite (Earl) Powell, she often spoke of her early years and family home. Married on August 6, 1955 to Loren P. DeBuque, she was devoted to her family and home. Muriel was an advocate of higher education and returned to her academic career later in life, successfully obtaining a college degree. Throughout her life she had several rewarding careers; owning and operating a day care from her home; became a highly skilled and sought-after cake decorator and was dedicated to working with, and advocating for the physically and mentally disabled. Upon retiring, Muriel launched her writing career. An avid reader, she took great joy in the development and publication of her own works.
Muriel is predeceased by her parents, Sister – Barbara Hazen and two Grandchildren: Jonathan Fitzgerald and Derek MacDonald.
An intelligent, resourceful and loving person, she will forever be loved and missed by her dedicated husband Loren; Children – Jeanne (Duane) MacDonald of Naples, FL, Greg (Nancy) DeBuque of Weeki Wachee, FL, Tammy (Terrance) Fitzgerald of St. Regis Falls, NY, Lorna (Dickie)Lucy of St. Regis Falls, NY; Nephew – Rob (Jeanne) Prior of Albany, NY; Grandchildren – Jessica (Gil) Carrandi, Terrance (Angela) Fitzgerald, Dallas (Esmeralda) MacDonald, Adam (Sara) DeBuque, Melissa Ryan and Sarah (Jeremy) Goyea; Great Grandchildren – Aidan and Allison DeBuque, Arya Carrandi, Jaxson Ryan, Loren and Nevaeh Fitzgerald, Dallas MacDonald ; her Siblings – Percy (Phyllis) Powell, Mary Jane (Bob) White, Susan Smith, Linda (Stan) Whitehead and Donna (James) Somers as well as many extended family members, friends and loving neighbors.
