Catherine Diane Marsh

August 26, 1952 — September 4, 2010

Catherine (Cathy) Marsh passed away at home on September 4, 2010 in the company of her loving family, peacefully ending her sudden battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Ogdensburg on August 26, 1952, she grew up in Potsdam attending school there as well, graduating in 1971. She then married the love of her life shortly after graduation, on July 3, 1971. She spent a great deal of her time later in life working at St. Lawrence Central School, with children as a special education school bus monitor, cafeteria work, and dispatching. In her spare time, she enjoyed going four wheeling with her husband across the North Country, hunting and fishing every chance she got, making many a creation from plastic canvas then giving the finished projects as gifts to various family and friends, as well as playing bingo and learning more about her computer. She was predeceased by her father, Chester Smalley. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Michael Marsh, of Winthrop, her daughter Margaret (Maggy) Marsh, of Baton Rouge LA, her sister-in-law Sharon Osden of Potsdam, as well as her mother, sister, and several other family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Cathy's name be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence County, or your local rescue squad. There will be no calling hours or services at the wishes of the family. The family would like thank the staff at Hospice for all their help, as without them, this would have been a more difficult time, as well as: Drs. Gold, McCloy, and Barlow, Molly Malone-PA, as well as the staff at both Canton Potsdam Hospital and Fletcher Allen Medical Center. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the Marsh family at www.hammillfh.com
