Brasher Falls – Daniel E. LaRock, 70, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Daniel was born on January 5, 1948 in Potsdam, son of the late Lawrence H. and Rita E. (LaClair) LaRock.  He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School and entered the U. S. Army in 1968.  He married Dianthia M. (DeeDee) Viau on October 2, 1969 at the First Presbyterian Church in Potsdam.  The love they shared for almost 48 years of marriage, kept them comfortable and content in each other’s company.

Daniel worked for St. Lawrence Central School for 32 years in the maintenance department. He found his greatest pleasure spending time with his family, especially as it grew throughout the years.  He was an amateur Ham Radio operator, played base with Gary Murray and the Drifters for many years, and like to fish and hunt.  He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church and a member of the American Legion Post #514 in Winthrop.

He is survived by his wife, Dee Dee; two children, Marcea LaRock of Malone and Daniel E. LaRock, Jr. (DJ) and his wife, Majella of Brasher Falls; one sister and brother in law, Carolyn and Robert Gold of OK; three grandchildren, Shelby Perrier, Ashly Smith and Fisher LaRock; one great grandson, Thomas Leuck.  He was also predeceased by one brother, Kenneth LaRock in 1992.
