Evelyn B. Cummings

Malone – Evelyn B. Cummings, 101, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St Regis Falls.

Evelyn was born on July 17, 1917 in St. Regis Falls, daughter of the late James and Jennie (Smith) Jones and graduated from St. Regis Falls High School.  She married Kenneth Cummings on September 10, 1945 at the home of Melvin and Irene Jones in Dickinson Center.  Mr. Cummings passed away on November 24, 2006.

She was an active and devoted member of the Dickinson Center Baptist Chapel.

Mrs. Cummings was devoted to her family as a mother and wife, always available to offer support and guidance.  Important and memorable in her life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose needs she always took to heart.  She leaves a legacy that will be captured in the memories of her family for years to come.  

Surviving Evelyn are her two daughters; Gail  (Royal) Sheldon of Norwood and Ruth Besio of Brushton, grandchildren, Leslie  (Randy) Klein, Randall  (Connie) Sheldon, Melissa Besio and John  (Patricia) Besio; three great-grandchildren;  Evelyn and Natalie Klein and Noah Besio-Melech, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by five siblings, Melvin Jones, Charles Jones, DeEtta Marsh, Ruth Jones and Margaret Jones (infant).

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 to 2 with her funeral service at 2 pm with Pastor Donald Work officiating, at Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.  Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls.
