Parishville- Mrs. Lorraine J. (Crump) Burnett, 78, passed away on Sunday September 30, 2018 in the comfort of her home. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Lorraine was born in Parishville on June 29, 1940 to the late Ithiel and Florence (Shaw) Crump and graduated from Parishville- Hopkinton High School. On July 20, 1957 she was married to Richard Burnett in Nicholville.
For 21 dedicated years she was a bus driver for Parishville-Hopkinton School, retiring in 2002.
It was no secret that Lorraine loved and adored all children. From having 6 of her own, driving busloads of them for several years, and especially spending time with her own grandchildren; they all brought her so much happiness and she cherished each individual relationship she had with them. Lorraine had an open-door policy and would take in anyone who needed a place to stay or a bite to eat.
She also had quite an elaborate doll collection.
Lorraine is survived by her husband, Dick; her children: Sherry and Pat Remington, Parishville, Richard and Tina Burnett Jr., Hopkinton, Pamela and Christopher Chapman, North Carolina, Kevin and Bridgette Burnett, Parishville, and Lisa Green, Parishville; a legacy of 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Jane McDonald, Potsdam; brother, Ronnie Crump, Florida and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Always close to her heart is the memory of those who predeceased her: son, Michael Burnett who passed on May 31, 2001 and her brothers, Rutherford and Gary Crump.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Lorraine’s funeral service will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Hammill Funeral Home; 653 State Highway 11C, Winthrop. Burial will follow at Southville Cemetery in the Town of Stockholm.
