Connie Ling

December 1, 1954 — July 24, 2020

Winthrop – Connie L. Ling, 65, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on July 24, 2020. Her family honored her life privately. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Connie was born in Massena on December 1, 1954, the daughter of the late Allen ”Joe” and Helen T. (Michaud) Weegar. On August 18, 1973, she married the love of her life, Gary Ling at the Potsdam United Methodist Church. They were best friends. They shared a memorable marriage and provided a loving home for their two daughters. Connie worked at Canton-Potsdam Hospital in the custodial department until she had to retire due to illness. Connie was a hard worker and an inspiring mom to her children. Being with family was a must for Connie, whether it being camping, summer cookouts, impromptu meals, or the holidays. She had an affinity for animals, especially her dog, Bandit, who she leaves behind. Her Sunday activity involved researching the sales flyers in the newspaper with her husband. She is survived by her husband, Gary, two daughters, Carrie and David Wells of Parishville and Bobby-Jo and Richard Deshane of Winthrop, one brother, Ronald Weegar and Winnie of Winthrop, her aunt, Barb and Russell Colbert of Norwood, her grandchildren, Kobe and Rylee Wells, Anthony and Beth Deshane, Austin Deshane, and Ashley Deshane, one grandbaby on the way and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Roger Weegar and a sister, Bonnie Swinyer. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials in her name can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc., 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676 or the Potsdam Humane Society, 17 Madrid Ave., Potsdam, NY 13676.
