Donald W. Provost

A Celebration of Life Service for Donald W. Provost, 79, of St. Regis Falls will be held January 29, 2011 at the home of his daughter, Robin, at 1098 St. Rt. 458, St. Regis Falls. The celebration service will begin at noon. Family members and friends are invited to stop by and share a memory of Don and Janet. Burial will be at Santa Clara Cemetery in Santa Clara. There will be no calling hours; arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Mr. Provost passed away peacefully, Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake. He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Cox and her companion, Ken Susice of St. Regis Falls, Terry Provost of Saratog Springs, Robin and Bob Beaulieu of St. Regis Falls; two sons, Donald L. and Tessa Provost of Delanson and Gregory and Carla Provost of Sturbridge, Massachusetts; three brothers, Irving and Wanda Provost of Dickinson Center, James and Mavis Provost of Dickinson Center, Amedia and Debbie Provost of St. Regis Falls; 3 sisters, Trudy Provost of Ogdensburg, Joanne and Ronald Soucy of Santa Clara, Jean Johnson of Grand Gorge; 10 grandchildren, , Jeremy and his wife, Jamie Cox of Dickinson Center, Holly Cox of St. Regis Falls, Joe Cox of St. Regis Falls, Shawnda and Joel Walbridge of Saratoga Springs, Jordon and Lucy Beaulieu of St. Regis Falls, Sam Beaulieu of Lake Placid, Brittany and Michael Davis of Glens Falls, Krista Provost of Delanson, Kayla and Steven Largeteau of Delanson and Chelsea Provost of Sturbridge, Massachusetts; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He dearly remembers his wife Janet who passed away on September 13, 2007, his daughter, Donna Jean, who died in 1956 at the age of 10 months, one brother, Leonard who died on Feb. 14, 1951, and three sisters, Katherine Francis, June Dufrane, and Caroline Pickett. Donald was born on September 10, 1931 in Santa Clara, son of the late Amedia and Dorothy LaBounty Provost. He attended Santa Clara Schools and entered the U. S. Army, serving from 1952 to 1954. On September 24, 1955, he married Janet E. Raville at Dickinson Center Baptist Church with Rev Merle Bennett officiating. In 1955, he entered the U. S. Air Force, at one time was assigned to the Military Police, and received his honorable discharge in 1963. Mr. Provost was a heavy equipment operator, working construction and was retired from the Town of Waverly after 13 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, who enjoyed camping at Mountain Pond, watching his grandchildren grow and took pride in providing a home for his family.
